Here are a few talking points of what has been going on this past week:

I like anatomy. And I don’t mean that in the broham “I like checking out female anatomy” way. I just generally enjoy being able to learn it.

I bought a new tennis racket yesterday. My tennis game increased tenfold when I played tonight.

I have an interview next Tuesday for a position in an ER. I would only have to work a third of the hours I do now to be considered full-time, with more pay per hour. My fingers are crossed.

I know I am not thirty, but I bought tickets to the Dave Matthews Band concert at the Staples center August 19th. I don’t know how I will fit in without some dank

My throat has been sore the last week and a half. Someday I’ll care enough to make it go away.

Watching Entourage makes me sad that I am me, and not Vince, Eric, or Ari. Though if I were one in real life, I would say I am a good Eric Murphy.

April fools has come and gone, and I was not punk’d. More proof that I don’t have idiots for friends.

Well, with the spirit of the holidays (since my lawyer told me I could face lawsuits if I say ‘Christmas’) I thought it be suiting that I do some shout outs to all my peeps who hang out with me online and offline. Have a happy holidays and don’t have Christmas unless you want to face legal repercussions.

Pushstart Wagon: We just finished a site redesign of the indie-rock band, Pushstart Wagon. Everything that I have heard from those guys has been awesome, so I recommend you give them a listen and buy a CD - a great stocking stuffer or gift if you are poor. Pushstart Wagon.

Quaker 2.0: The man who hands me money to hang out has started up a discussion of the Quaker identity presently in Christianity. I think he is calling for a revolution, and last time I talked to him, he told me to call him ‘Stalin.’ Whatever the case may be, keep on eye on Quaker 2.0: The Revolution.

Slang Flashcards: Because Rebecca celebrates what many like to call “Christmas,” she gave me an early gift which out-matches all that I have gotten this year: comprehensive Slang Flashcards. Thanks to these flashcards, I am slowly learning dank new words that will allow me to kick it with my homies in the crib, yo. I have learned that I am a vapor, and hopefully it will get me a new whip. I ain’t no wanksta, I am all down on the ish, yo. Thanks Rebecca, my life in C-Town is a little easier.

I think three items is all you need for a list to be a list. That or I do as little as possible to get by. Regardless, I am going to go play a mean game of urban frisbee golf.

As you can tell from my previous lengthy post, I am now home. I am somewhat settled in, except I have yet to unpack or anything of that nature, but getting into the swing of society. I suppose now that I make a real post, I am obligated to regularly update, that is if anyone still comes around this place.

School

My first year of college has started, so let me give you a quick rundown:

Ancient Civilizations: I really dig history despite all the reading. My professor, though very young, seems extremely knowledgeable so his lectures are very well done and therefore slightly less boring than this blog.

Spanish: I have already done three years of spanish, but I came back to Spanish one only to fill a language requirement and to steal the easy A. This class will be cake.

Math: Although I have gone all the way through Calculus, I tested poorly putting me back a few classes into College Algebra. I look at this as almost an advantage because I have a poor Algebra background, and all math is built off of Algebra, so I can be sure to be real concrete in the fundamentals before attempting Calculus III.

And that is it for classes. It is a light first quarter, which leaves plenty of time to work. Now I just need a job.

Employment

I have a possible lead at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse that I looked into today, but the manager was out. So I will check in again tomorrow. Working in a restaurant would be ideal, just to get serving experience so it can carry over into any other restaurant. And tips are good.

Hair

The most anticipated topic in this post: my hair. It is still growing - almost past my eyes now. A little out of control some may say, but it represents my life style: on the edge, sloppy and un-tamed. The edges are getting really curly and it will make for a good mullet when I do come to cut it. My only prayer is that it does not impair me from getting a job, in which case I will cut it.

Be prepared for regular updations - this is officially the Return of the Web (as I know it).

Despite my false promises,
Jon

Hair – I have decided to grow my hair out, since it has never been very long before. I was still debating if I should grow it out yesterday when I went to Supercuts to get it trimmed up for prom yesterday. The lady cutting my hair kept asking me questions-meaningless questions. Finally, I said “look lady, I am not paying you to be my friend, I am paying you to do your job.” She was up set and cut my hair more frivolously. Actually, I kindly responded to her surface questions and in my head vowed to only tip 10% and never get my hair cut again…well, for a while.

Prom – I have been working out a couple dance moves for prom that I will unleash this Saturday; should be an awesome night of the white man reclaiming the dance floor. Look for me to make my next appearance on the Dance 360 soon.

USMC Graduation – Friday I get to ditch out on school and go to Andrew’s graduation; he is graduating from the United States Marine Corps Boot Camp. I haven’t seen him in over three months, so it should be awesome. He gets 10 days leave, so we will for sure be seeing Star Wars together, thought this cannot compare to our previous dates to see chick flicks.

Ummm…I think that about does it.

Seacrest Out!

Allow me to quickly clear up some language barriers that prohibit some from fully comprehending my weblog: potpourri does not relate to the fancy smelling flowers at all. While I constantly stink, these things have no correlation. Potpourri is a collection containing a variety of sorts of things, in this case, my thoughts. So without anything further, I give you my first bit of potpourri:

Christian Cheerleaders: Just when I could not enjoy ABC Nightly News any further, they come on with a story about a camp in Oklahoma that encourages Christian’s to put God first in their activities, in this case cheerleading. What a novel concept as Christian’s, to put God first. While this story was encouraging to be on national news, ABC did a terrible job of the portrayal of Christians. The whole story capitalized on the segregation, of how these cheerleaders are in a better environment, away from the gaudy Brittany Spears dance influence. As Christian’s, while our actions must obviously reflect our faith, is there a line to where it is pure segregation, and we are not in the world we are out to save?

Runaway Bride: I got a good laugh after the Cheerleader story when the fiancée of the infamous runaway bride was on talking about how excited he is to take his bride-to-be back. Did he not get the hint the first time she ran away? Clearly they have a strong line of communication in their relationship, since actions are meaningless. “She just had cold feet.” I think her feet must have about fallen off, and that the desperate groom needs to shop online for a new mate.

AP Calculus Test: My heart skips a beat as I eagerly look forward to this four hour test tomorrow. I am really hoping I pass, although, passing with a three or better will only get me out of one quarter of college calculus: I need to take five quarters of calculus.

Extreme Makeover-Home Edition: Is it just me or is this the greatest show on television?
